Coney Island residents protest the decision to open a ferry terminal at Kaiser Park.
The people who fish there and use the park, mostly NYCHA residents, feel left out of the Ferry terminal process and it appears that a backroom decision has been made to use the pier as the ferry terminal event though the NYCEDC is saying that no decision has been finalized. This is an environmentally sensitive area that includes a horseshoe crab spawning beach and fragile sand dune system. It is also the only ferry pier that comes to a beach where people swim and kayak. I hope that you can cover this protest event. Their voices need to be heard!
